About

SEARCH is an acronym for Science-based Education Targeting Autism Resulting in Change and Hope.

Our learning center, located in Warren, New Jersey, provides an optimal setting for our comprehensive educational model. SEARCH provides staff and learners with a space where they can work together to create meaningful and lasting changes. The center boasts nine classrooms, a multipurpose room, a movement room, outdoor play spaces, areas for small-group instruction, and conference rooms for parent/caregiver meetings and staff training.

Our Principles

Behavior Analysis

SEARCH is dedicated to providing superior behavior-analytic services to children with autism and their families. Applied behavior analysis (ABA) is the only intervention empirically validated to be an effective treatment for autism. ABA has decades of research supporting its efficacy and its principles drive all our intervention programming.

Family Involvement & Guidance

SEARCH is committed to working closely with parents and caregivers as we mutually benefit from family involvement. When a family joins SEARCH, we dedicate our full clinical team to support the family and begin a collaborative relationship as we move forward together. Family members receive ongoing, hands-on training as they play an integral role in their child’s program. We inform families about their child’s progress through triannual reports and biannual meetings. This partnership allows for meaningful and lasting change to occur.

Tailored Approach

SEARCH’s educational model is focused on individualized programming and highly-specialized instruction. Our program works with a limited number of learners to ensure that our comprehensive approach remains effective and utilizes best practices. By offering a limited number of placements, SEARCH provides superior services to achieve optimal results with each child.

Our History

SEARCH Learning Group was established in 2005 by Dr. Carrie Kahana. Initially providing only home-based programs, SEARCH opened its first learning center in 2008. SEARCH then began to specialize its services and changed its treatment model to focus on only center-based programming with guidance provided for the home setting.

Over the past decade, SEARCH has continued to tailor our comprehensive treatment model, allowing us to provide greater resources and guidance to families at each step. SEARCH’s ultimate goal is to have our learners receive the best possible intervention and optimal results. SEARCH aims to have learners reach their maximum potential and equips them with the skills to succeed and graduate into their next best placement. Additionally, we strive to be a resource to our community, offering our expertise as a resource for all.

“My child recently started kindergarten unidentified and unsupported. He is learning, making friends, and loving school! We wouldn't be where we are without SEARCH!”
